Mercedes E63 AMG launched in India,priced at Rs 1.29 crore

The launch of E63 AMG would help company improve its market share in country: Kern

Mercedes-Benz on Thursday unveiled its new luxury sedan Mercedes E63 AMG at the Buddh International circuit in Greater Noida,at a price of Rs 1.29 crore (ex-showroom Delhi)

With a sporty feature,the new E 63 AMG sports a 5.5. litre V8 BITURBO engine with a displacement of 5,461 cc. The luxury supercar delivers an output of 557 hp@5500 rpm and torque of 720 nm@1,750-5,250 rpm.

The race start function in the E 63 AMG ensures shorter response times and higher engine. It goes from 0 to 100 km/hr in 4.2 seconds and can reach a top speed of 250 km/h. The luxury sedan features an AMG speedshift MCT 7-speed sports transmission with modes like “C” (controlled efficiency),“S” (Sports plus) and “M” (Manual)

The sedan has AMG exterior carbon-fibre package,inlays in the AMG side skirts and the carbon-finish top section of the AMG rear apron. It also sports full LED headlamps,which were introduced in India with the launch of the new E Class. The AMG instrument cluster features a 11.4 cm TFT multifunctional display with a menu that includes racetimer,AMG start-up scree and 320 km/h speedometre dial.

Safety-wise,Maercedes-Benz has equipped the sedan with eight airbags –adaptive dual stage airbags and side impact air bags for driver and front passenger and window airbags.

Speaking at the event,Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Eberhard Kern told reporters,“The E 63 AMG combines the attributes of a sports car with the practicality of a luxury sedan. The connoisseurs of Mercedes-Benz AMG vehicles will now experience the performance and driving dynamics of an AMG with broader scope of standard equipment.”

The luxury carmaker had recently introduced a range of new products,including the A Class,B Class (diesel) and an all-new version of the E Class sedan in India.

“The year 2013 has been marked as the year of the offensive for Mercedes India. We have already received tremendous response for the A-Class and E-Class and today’s launch of the new E63 AMG further reiterates our promise to bring fascinating cars to India,” Kern added.
