In a swift operation in the early hours of Friday,police picked up PCAPA secretary Manoj Mahato from Jamshol village near Birknar village in Lalgarh. He is yet to be officially arrested and the police are yet to confirm the detention.
With the arrest of Manoj,the PCAPA appears almost dismantled. Santosh Patro,the head of the PCAPA,and Asit Mahato are the only leaders still at large.
According to PCAPA sources,Manoj who had been booked in 12 cases and had gone underground was picked up from his home around 5 am when he had gone to meet his family.
West Midnapore SP Manoj Verma said: We do not have any information about the arrest. We are conducting raids to arrest him. But how can he be picked up from home,since he does not stay there? He takes shelter in Jhitka forest and Lakkhanpur forest.
