Lining up for tickets

While Congress president Sonia Gandhi has refrained from giving any organisational responsibility to partymen intending to contest the elections except Jangipur MP Pranab Mukherjee,on whom the post of West Bengal PCC chief was virtually thrust her party colleagues dont seem to get the message. Many state Congress presidents are lobbying for party tickets. MP Congress chief Suresh Pachauri is aspiring for a ticket from Hoshangabad. His counterpart in Rajasthan,C P Joshi,is lobbying for a ticket from Chittorgarh,Rajasamand or Bhilwara. Bihar Congress president Anil Sharma wants a ticket for the Munger Lok Sabha seat. UP Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi is equally keen to contest. There are a host of others holding important organisational posts aspiring for party tickets. The party high command is obviously embarrassed. Sonia has been exhorting workers to eschew personal interests for the sake of the party, but here she has the captains of states behaving otherwise.
