Left Front divided

The Left Front is divided over the creation of Telangana with its two major constituents the CPM and CPI not being on the same page

The Left Front is divided over the creation of Telangana with its two major constituents the CPM and CPI not being on the same page. The CPM said the Congress partys decision to give the go-ahead for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh seems to be impelled by the forthcoming general elections, and argued that it will have a domino effect as more demands will be made for new states in other parts of the country.

The CPI,on the other hand, welcomed the move saying the formation of Telangana was inevitable. The other two Left Front constituents the RSP and Forward Bloc too aired divergent views on the issue.

Echoing the CPI,the Forward Bloc said: The Congress delayed Telangana statehood by backtracking on its promise. The RSP,on the other hand, said it was against the creation of smaller states, and noted that the party was also opposed to the formation of Uttarakhand,Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
