For the first since he became the Chief Minister,K Rosaiah had reasons to smile as several ministers trooped into his office to express their loyalty to him after Jaganmohan accused Rosaiah of being responsible for Friday’s violence at Mahabubabad Railway Station. Minister for Information and Tourism J Geeta Reddy led the ministers in affirming their support to Rosaiah.

Jaganmohan’s fallout with the high command after he defied a diktat to call off his tour may have necessitated the ministers to show where their loyalties lie so that they are not caught on the wrong side. For Rosaiah, who had to often request his ministers to defend him if criticised,it is a big relief.

“We are with the CM. There is no government failure in handling the Odarpu yatra undertaken by Jaganmohan Reddy. The entire Cabinet believes so,” Geeta Reddy, who is Congress floor leader in the Assembly, told reporters. Besides Geeta Reddy,Minister for Home Sabita Reddy,Minister for Major Industries K Lakshminarayana,Minister for Health Danam Nagendra,Minister for Endowments G Venkata Reddy, were the others who met the CM.

Danam Nagender said it was irresponsible of Jaganmohan to blame the CM for the violence. Sabita Reddy defended the state government by saying that adequate security arrangements were made and 3,000 personnel were deployed in Warangal for Jaganmohan’s yatra.

Sources said Jaganmohan may have got a reprieve from the party high command due to the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls. “Moily may have given him clearance to go ahead with his yatra so as not put the party in trouble in the state before the RS polls. With a strength of 156 MLAs,the Congress can get four members elected to the Rajya Sabha and the party does not want to jeopardise its chances by letting Jaganmohan loyalists do cross-voting,” an APCC leader said.
