The J&K Police on Monday confirmed a hijack scare on a Jet Airways Delhi-Srinagar flight on January 30,leading to high alert,and said the case had been closed after investigations.
There was a serious hijack scare on a Srinagar-bound flight. As soon as the plane landed,our anti-hijacking unit secured the plane and detained the suspect for questioning. After detailed questioning and other investigations,the police found the passenger had no subversive intent, Inspector General of Police,Kashmir zone,Farooq Ahmad said. We have closed the case.
The Sunday Express first reported the hijack scare on April 4,triggered by a love note scribbled by the suspect to an airhostess on the flight. The story had inaccurately called it a Kingfisher Airlines flight.
A spokesperson of Jet Airways in Mumbai confirmed they handed over the suspect to the security officials at the Srinagar airport. After the plane landed in Srinagar on January 30,the concerned guest was handed over to airport security, he said.
