Turning its attention again on social networking sites, the J&K Police recently summoned five of the 35 administrators of Facebook pages identified by it as “anti-India”. Sources said it is also monitoring a Swiss woman who has been “coordinating the activities of such administrators” in Kashmir.

Police say the woman, believed to be in her 40s,came to the Valley in 2011 and met Facebook administrators who have been uploading the allegedly “seditious” material. The police said they found her links when they intercepted her email exchanges several months ago.

While police refuse to reveal her identity, they claim she converted to Islam recently.

Acknowledging that some “anti-India” administrators had been summoned,Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP),Srinagar,Ashiq Bukhari told The Sunday Express: “They were summoned and given counselling by us.” The administrators reportedly admitted meeting the Swiss woman.

Among the “anti-India” administrators police have identified are those who set up ‘Freedom of Dawn’,‘Aalaw’ (call),‘Hoshar Jamat’ (Awakened Group),‘Balayi Khuda’ (God’s wrath) and ‘We love Syed Ali Shah Geelani’ pages. All 35 administrators of Facebook pages under watch would eventually be summoned.
