The seventh edition of the International Hydro-Power conference will begin in Jammu & Kashmir from June 11,with a focus on challenges and opportunities in harnessing hydro power in Northern Himalayas. Leading hydro-power developers and technocrats from around the world and policy and decision makers are expected to participate in the two-day conference which will begin on June 11,an official spokesman said. He said the conference titled 'Harnessing Hydro Power in Northern Himalaya-Challenges and Opportunities' with special focus on Jammu and Kashmir is being organised by India TECH Foundation. It will be inaugurated by state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Chief Ministers and power Ministers from various states and senior officers from Union power and water resources ministries are also expected to participate,the spokesman said. State's Power Minister Shabir Ahmed Khan had chaired a high level meeting of civil and police departments to discuss arrangements for smooth conduct of the conference yesterday,he said.
