Industry today hailed Bihar election results,as the victory for development saying,Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will now have to ensure power and water availability to attract investments. "It is a new trend where caste has not played any role, which was typical in Bihar earlier. It is a signal from people of the state that they have risen above the sectarian issues. The results are a big milestone in the transition from the fractured society to a modern India," Ficci Secretary General Amit Mitra said. He said,in his first term,Kumar addressed the basic issues of law and order, primary education and rural roads well. Asked why industry then did not invest in the state,Mitra said that there is huge potential for investment,if other set of issues like electricity and water availability are resolved. He said, the private sector would be willing to join hands with the state government in the next stage of development. However,he said,Bihar has to compete with other states like Gujarat,Maharashtra,Tamil Nadu,Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh in extending the infrastructure facilities for attracting investments. Mitra said that Bihar has a very good human resource, which can be tapped with improvement in the industrial climate. In her congratulatory message,Assocham President Swati Piramal said that the people of Bihar have shown maturity that reflected in the poll results. She said the industry "would like to participate and contribute to the development efforts of the state." Piramal said Kumar has garnered a broader mandate for his development efforts.
