Indias power loss at Rs 45,000 cr

The Planning Commission today said that losses in transmission and distribution (T&D) in power sector would exceed Rs 45,000 crore for the fiscal ended March 31,2010. “T&D losses in 2009-10 would exceed Rs 45,000 crore. Unless tariffs are raised,losses in 2010-11 may be Rs 68,000 crore,” Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said here …

The Planning Commission today said that losses in transmission and distribution (T&D) in power sector would exceed Rs 45,000 crore for the fiscal ended March 31,2010.

“T&D losses in 2009-10 would exceed Rs 45,000 crore. Unless tariffs are raised,losses in 2010-11 may be Rs 68,000 crore,” Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said here during a conference on power.
