Malaysia received highest number of tourists from India in 2010 as the countrys tourism revenue was put at 56.49 billion ringgit,more than the targeted 55.5 billion ringgit,Tourism Minister Ng Yen Yen has said.
The target of 24 million tourist arrivals was also surpassed by 577,000.
The tourists were mainly from India (17 per cent),South Korea (16 per cent),Middle East (14 per cent),China (10 per cent),Russia (9.8 per cent),Australia (8.9 per cent) and Japan (5.1 per cent).
Never before in our history,have we achieved so much with so little, Ng Yen Yen said.
She said tourism would reach new heights this year with the proposal to train foreign tour guides to lead tourists in Malaysia.
This will improve the capacity of tourism operators because tourists will be able to communicate with the help of their multilingual guides, she said.
