India could grow 9% over 5-6 years: Montek

The Indian economy is on track to grow 8.5 per cent this fiscal year.

India’s economy could grow at 9 per cent over the next five to six years,Montek Singh Ahluwalia,deputy chairman of Planning Commission,said on Saturday.

He also said India’s current account deficit could be a “little below” 3 per cent of gross domestic product in the current fiscal year ending in March 2011.

The Indian economy is on track to grow 8.5 per cent this fiscal year.
