The BJP is dreaming big in Gujarat with the small car. Party campaign managers will soon be distributing small Nano-model pen stands as part of its publicity efforts.
They hope these saffron coloured pen-stands,carrying the party symbol and images of L K Advani and Narendra Modi, will evoke a response as good as the Modi masks did last time.
The pieces will come in the form of cardboards, which can be folded to give the Nano shape. Instructions on how and where to fold will be there on the cardboard.
The BJP,which is banking on the immense popularity of the small car among the urban middle-class voters, has come up with 25,000 such pieces officially, printed and cut out at the Gujarat Offset Printers which prints other campaign material as well.
BJP spokesman Jagdish Bhavsar said the idea was conceptualised by the partys core team, which wanted to come out with something as interesting as the Modi masks. This will increase childrens creativity and will remind voters of the Chief Ministers achievement in bringing the Nano car project from West Bengal to Gujarat, he said. He added that it would also remind the voters about jobs that came with the project.
Asked if the party had secured permission from Tata Motors for using its car model as campaign material,BJP campaign in-charge for Gujarat Kaushik Patel said he would not know if permission was required or secured. I will have to get it checked officially which will take some time, he said.
According to managers at the Gujarat Offset, each piece would cost around Re 1. Bhavsar said orders for more pieces might be placed if the demand came from the districts because the idea was to distribute them to voters in all the constituencies.
