Meri aankh aur kaan khule hein, sirf mujhe nyay mile, tab tak main marungi nahin (My eyes and ears will be open till justice is done, till then I wont die), Zakia Jafri told reporters at her Surat home, after the Supreme Court judgment in the 2002 Gulberg Society massacre case.
The 74-year-old ailing widow of former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, who was one of the 69 persons killed in the massacre, was informed about the verdict by her son Tanvir who was present in the Supreme Court.
My son informed me. I have not lost hope in the judiciary and justice delayed is not justice denied, Zakia told The Indian Express Monday. I am waiting to get justice. I cant travel because of my old age and illness. But my children are looking into the case proceedings. We believe judgment will come fast in the case after the lower court has been directed to look into it.
Tanvir said,We welcome the verdict, passing order to the lower court following my mothers complaint… If the court decides to drop name of any of the accused we have got the right to argue against the decision or we can move High Court or the Supreme Court.
Zakia, whose complaint against Modi and 62 others, had led to the SC handing over the probe into the case to an SIT,said she had no personal enmity against Narendra Modi.
I am against the government. We are safe in Gujarat and we are not scared of anybody, and so we have not shifted to any other state, she added.
