Chinese telecom giant Huawei believes that concerns over security were misconceptions and that it will overcome any misgivings from potential clients across the globe.
Ross Gan,worldwide head of corporate communications,Huawei,said,We adopt an open attitude towards security concerns and believe that the brand will overcome any misgivings. With the company expected to spend close to 2 billion between 2011 and 2016 in India across operations,R amp; D and manufacturing,Gan said that Huawei was open to all options to address security concerns in the country.
Huawei is presently focusing on increasing its presence in India,which it considers a top-level priority in the telecom sector. Ying Weimin,president,GSM,UMT and LTE network,said that Huawei predicts aggressive LTE Long Term Evolution growth in India in 2012 and that Mukesh Ambanis Reliance Industries RIL would lead the charge.
Though 3G provides excellent speeds,with only a 5 MHz bandwidth in India,it will not function as well when the number of users increase. LTE is faster,has higher throughput and is more cost effective, said Weimin.
Though Huawei hopes to tap a potential 10 billion telecom equipment market in India by 2016,Dabing He,president,Huawei enterprise division,said that the company would provide end-to-end solutions,devices and terminals
However,with margins from India lower than the rest of the world,the company is presently focussing on ways to penetrate the market.
