Haryana women staff will get 2-yr childcare leave

Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced a two-year 'Child Care Leave' for women employees working with the state govt.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced a two-year “Child Care Leave” (CCL) for women employees working with the state government. The decision will be implemented with immediate effect.

Hooda said the paid leave can be availed for a maximum period of 730 days — which can be split or clubbed together — during the entire service of the employee for the purpose of raising a child, attending to his/ her needs like at the time of exams or illness. The child must be below the age of 18 years.

However, the leave can only be taken for the two eldest children — no CCL will be allowed for the third or next child, irrespective of his age.

During CCL,the employee will be eligible for full salary, like in the case of earned leave.

The nature of CCL would also be like earned leave — which means weekends and gazetted holidays falling during the period of leave would also be included as CCL. This leave would be separate from the other leaves allowed.
