Kashmiri poetess Naseem Shafaie,Konkani poet Melvyn Rodrigues and historian Ramachandra Guha were among the Sahitya Akademi awardees for the year 2011 for their works. The awards were presented on Tuesday.
Eight books of poetry,seven novels,three essays and one each of short story,narrative history,biography and play were selected.
While Guha (English) got the award for his book of narrative history India After Gandhi Gopalakrishna Pai (Kannada) and Kashinath Singh (Hindi) were recognised for their novels Swapna Saraswata and Rehan Per Ragghu,respectively.
The awardees included the late Kabin Phukan (Assamese),Manindra Gupta (Bengali),Premananda Mosahari (Bodo) and Lalit Magotra (Dogri).
