Juno Temple, who appears opposite Ben Stiller in Greenberg, has booked three roles that position her as an indie actress to watch. First, the 21-year-old Temple joins the ensemble cast of Dirty Girl, the drama from Killer Films in which she plays the title character,a notorious high school slut, who runs away with her closeted gay classmate to drive from Oklahoma to California to find the father shes never met.Milla Jovovich,William H. Macy,Dwight Yoakam and Mary Steenburgen round out the cast of the movie, which Abe Sylvia is directing from his own script. Temple then segues to Goodnight Moon,a drama from writer-director Elgin James,in which shell star opposite Anna Sophia Robb. The film centres on two girls who find themselves in trouble after they run away to Los Angeles; the roles were highly sought in the indie world for that age bracket. Finally,Temple will turn to Jack & Diane,a love story between two teenage girls, one of whom occasionally turns into a werewolf as a representation of all-consuming love and desire. Bradley Rust Gray wrote the script and is directing the drama, which is not billed as a horror movie. Of Temple,James said: She taught me a lot about the character that I created on paper. This is what Peter Jackson must have felt like when he worked with Kate Winslet in Heavenly Creatures. Its that feeling youre working with a talent that is going to break out. Jen Gatien, one of the producers of Jack & Diane, said Temples name was submitted after Ellen Page, who was attached to the movie, dropped out. Those were big shoes to fill, but when we met her,we and the director knew instantly, Gatien said. Stones South of the Border headed for U.S. theatresCinema Libre has acquired North American rights to Oliver Stones documentary South Of The Border, which chronicles the rise to power of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and other South American leaders. The distributor plans to release the film June 25 in New York, followed by a July 2 opening in Los Angeles. Not only is it a genuine honour to work with one of the greatest American directors, but his insightful documentary shows how these leaders of Latin America are being intentionally villanised by the U.S. mass media, Philippe Diaz, founder of Cinema Libre, said,This unique dialogue needed the eye and the courage of a director like Stone to convince us that these leaders are fighting for a more humane society, which means defending themselves against American corporate interests. Tariq Ali,historian and author of Pirates Of The Caribbean: Axis Of Hope, served as screenwriter with Mark Weisbrot on the film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
