Gold prices moved down moderately in an otherwise narrowly weak bullion market due to lack of domestic buying interest.
Silver also eased in the absence of demand from industrial users.
Meanwhile,the bullion market was closed yesterday on account of “New Year”.
Standard gold (99.5 purity) fell by Rs 20 per ten grams to close at Rs 16,670 from previous closing level of Rs 16,690.
Pure gold (99.9 purity) eased by a similar margin to end at Rs 16,755 per ten grams from Rs 16,775 previously.
Silver ready (.999 fineness) looked down by Rs 40 per kg to finish at Rs 27,385 as against Rs 27,425 previously.
