Health care provider Fortis will expand and add 600 beds in the first half of 2010 with the commissioning of new facilities in Bangalore,Kolkata and expansion of its existing facility at Mulund in Mumbai.
Speaking about the completion of the acquistion of Rs 909 crore Wockhard Hospitals by Fortis Healthcare Limited,Vishal Bali,CEO,Fortis Hospitals Group,told reporters that with the addition of 10 Wockhardt hospitals,Fortis Healthcare would scale up its presence from 29 to 39 hospitals and enhance its bed capacity from 3278 to 5180.
The 1902 additional beds include 414 in the new facility in Kolkata (currently under construction) 120 in Peenya (also under construction) and part of beds to be commissioned in the existing Mulund facility,which is now being expanded,he said Elaborating on its city-specific plans,he said Fortis would expand its presence in Bangalore with the 120 bedded hospital in Peenya,being completed with its joint venture partner Kirloskar.
An outpatient super speciality and diagnostic centre which became operational four months ago would also be expanded. The group also plans to start an oncology super specialty centre in Bangalore in future,he said.
