Facebook redesigns Events page

It would highlight upcoming events so that users can plan in advance.

“…We announce a new list and calendar view that makes it easier to scan upcoming birthdays,invites and suggested events. Scroll through these events and respond to invites without leaving the page,” Baldwin said.

“Suggested events are recommended to you based on your friends,Pages you like,places you’ve checked in at and the apps you use on Facebook,” he added.

The new format for Facebook Events comes on the heels of Google launching new features for its social networking service – Google Plus-. It rolled out a new Events page last month,which includes scheduling,RSVP status,and photo sharing.

Facebook’s Events redesign was done as part of a hackathon project by the company’s engineers in order to improve the social network’s Events functionality.

The move would help over 900 million Facebook users across the world to organise their events,make plans,and see their friends’ birthdays.

Earlier this week,Facebook launched its App Centre in India and six other countries in a bid to help users to find games,music services and media content easily. It had launched the center in the US last month.

The launch is a part of a plan to expand its reach to a greater number of Facebook users,with 80 per cent residing outside the US and Canada.

In addition,Facebook had said it would also be launching App Center to users in Brazil,France,Germany,Russia,Spain,Taiwan,and Turkey “in the coming weeks”.
