Karam Singh,the former sarpanch of Kambopura in Karnal,died of poisoning,a panel of doctors that conducted the post mortem have confirmed,sources said.
The doctors,from Rohtaks Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences,and confirmed the cause of death as poisoning,police officials said.
Sources said the police have sent the case file,including the statements of the doctors,to T D Dogra,the head of the Forensic Medicine Department at All India Institute of Medical Sciences,New Delhi,for his opinion on the exact cause of death.
Dogra had earlier told the police that he would be able to give his opinion only after going through the post mortem report and also the statements of the doctors who conducted the examination.
A day before his death on June 7,Karam Singh had,in a complaint to CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda,levelled corruption charges against then chief parliamentary secretary to the government,Zile Ram Sharma,and then transport minister O P Jain. After his death,his son Rajinder Singh had accused Sharma and Jain of plotting his fathers death.
