Key UPA partner DMK on Wednesday demanded rollback of the steepest ever petrol price hike with its chief M Karunanidhi saying that his party MPs will take up the matter with the government. I will ask for it, was his terse reply when reporters sought to know if he would demand a rollback of the Rs 7.5 per litre increase in the price of petrol.
Asked if the DMK was consulted on the hike being a UPA ally,he said when the government takes certain decisions not all of them could be discussed with alliance party leaders.
For example, did Chief Minister Jayalalithaa consult friendly parties before hiking electricity tariff, milk price and bus fares? Karunanidhi asked.
