CURBING POWERS
Director Generals of Central Armed Police Forces CAPF and Assam Rifles are up in arms against the Ministry of Home Affairs MHA. They are protesting a recent directive by which the appointments of special DGs and Additional DGs have to be cleared by Home Secretary Anil Goswami. Earlier, the appointments were done by the DGs without any inteference from the MHA.
CHANGING TIMES
There has been a subtle change in the corridors of power in the Defence Ministry wing of the South Block, specifically outside A K Antonys office. While a portrait of a Russia origin Su 30 MKI in action was earlier displayed prominently outside the Defence Ministers office,it has now been replaced with a photograph of a US-bought C 130 J transporter landing at the Daulat Beg Oldie base along the China border. This has set the ministry abuzz whether the change reflects a larger transition.
