The Delhi High Court on Tuesday restrained former defence minister George Fernandess wife Leila Kabir and son Sean from taking the veteran socialist leader to the US for treatment of Alzheimers. Justice V K Shali rejected the argument of Leila Kabirs counsel that in view of Fernandess health,he was required to be taken to the US. The matter will be further heard on April 26.
The High Court was hearing the plea of Richard Fernandes, brother of George Fernandes, who alleged that they could not meet the leader as he was in the confinement of his wife and son. According to the petition,Kabir and Sean returned to George Fernandess life after two decades, saying his friends and brothers want to grab his property worth over Rs 2.50 crore.
Fernandes,79,was under ayurvedic medication at the Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar till date. Kabir and Fernandes had forcibly taken Fernandes to an undisclosed location on the pretext of giving him medical care, states the petition.
