The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday ordered the Vigilance Establishment to register cases under the prevention of corruption Act PC Act against former BSP ministers Naseemuddin Siddiqui and Babu Singh Kushwaha for allegedly amassing assets which were disproportionate to their known source of income.
Besides,the vigilance was also given permission to file a chargesheet and prosecute another former minister in previous government,Rangnath Mishra,on the basis of the investigation which found that he owns movable and immovable assets disproportionate to his known source of income.
The State Home Department spokesperson confirmed that the government had ordered an open enquiry against senior BSP leader Siddiqui on the basis of a report sent by the Lokayukta. The Lokayukta had,in the report, recommended an investigation on corruption charges against the former minister.
The vigilance enquired into Siddiquis known source of income between March 27,1997 and March 21,2012 to find that he had earned over Rs 69.96 lakh but he spent over Rs 14.32 crore against his actual earnings during these years.
Therefore,the spokesperson added,the vigilance had recommended registering a case.
