In the absence of role models to look up to,youngsters in India are idolising the corrupt and the dishonest,feels software icon N R Narayana Murthy.
The number of role models that our youngsters can look up to is decreasing. How many people in our public life can you be proud of for honesty,courage,commitment and hardwork? And that number is dwindling, said the co-founder of Infosys Ltd.
Our youngsters dont have role models to look up to and therefore,and sadly because of corruption,some of the people who are doing exactly the opposite dishonest,deceit,chalta hai and all of that8230; they are becoming more and more powerful8230; they are becoming wealthier, Murthy said at a function here on Saturday night to release a book,Upworldly Mobile,by Ranjini Manian,Founder and CEO of Global Adjustments,a cross-cultural training and services firm.
Ranjini said with 3,138 foreign companies currently registered and operating in India and the country producing 1 lakh MBA graduates every year,scope for cultural misunderstandings due to a lack of a common norm of global behaviour was infinite.
The book is designed to equip Indian managers and their expatriate colleagues with cultural intelligence tools to succeed in business,it was stated.
Calls for 3-language formula in schools
Software icon N R Narayana Murthy has advocated a three-language formula in Indian schools to boost employment opportunities. He called for creating a policy whereby every child is given full freedom to pursue mother tongue,the language of the country and English. If we want the poorer people also to have opportunities,we have to create opportunities to allow them learn whatever they want.
