Cong Himachal leader puts assets before media

A Congress legislator in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday declared his assets and liabilities before the media and appealed to other MLAs to follow suit.

A Congress legislator in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday declared his assets and liabilities before the media and appealed to other MLAs to follow suit. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu,a three-time MLA from Nadaun in Hamirpur district,held a press conference here during which he gave details of the properties held by him.

Sukhu,who is also the state Congress vice-president,said he had recently approached the Himachal Pradesh Assembly to include details of his properties on its website but the plea was turned down on the ground that there was no such provision. “I will bring a private member Bill in the ensuing budget session of the Assembly for making such a provision,” he told reporters.

In a statement containing details of his properties,the MLA claimed he had assets worth Rs 1.57 crore by way of houses and ancestral & personal land in Shimla,Baddi and his native place Nadaun and that his liabilities amounted to Rs 62.20 lakh by way of bank loans.
