Deep (Rahul) picks and drops girlfriends at the drop of a hat not only because he is an incorrigible flirt, but because he is terrified of a permanent commitment like marriage. His grandfather (Poran Bandopadhyay),a multi-millionaire,fails to persuade him to settle down. Things appear to change when he meets the pretty Roopsha (Priyanka),a wild-life photographer. But he is still panicky about marriage. The girl likes him too. But she is disgusted with his elusive approach towards love and marriage.
All hell breaks loose when Deeps grandfather passes away. He bequeaths Rs 50 crore to his grandson. But there is a condition. He must get married on his 28th birthday, failing which the money will go directly to an orphanage. Deep realises that his 28th birthday is just about 36 hours away. He rushes to look out for a bride. He catches Roopsha just when she is rushing to catch a train to go on a wildlife photographic tour and brings her back. He blubbers out to her that there is money involved in his decision. An angry Roopsha, disgusted with Deeps shifting values, walks out again. How Deep brings her back within the stipulated deadline, gets married and gets his inheritance too forms the climax.
Technical Expertise
The story had immense possibilities. It has an original line that is comedy-friendly and youth-centric. But the telling of the story is what makes the difference between a bad film and a good film. Rahul, otherwise a good actor, fails to carry comedy on his shoulders. His hairstyle falling over his forehead spoils his looks. He looks convincing as a man who cannot take decisions, but that is just about it. His off-screen chemistry with Priyanka fails to carry over on screen. Priyanka looks her pretty self,confident,street-smart and well-attired. But her wildlife photographer act does not hold. The characters lack history. Roopshas mother appears only after more than half the film is over. Deeps friend (Animesh) practically lives with him. We get to learn that the one we thought was Roopshas friend is actually her kid sister. The songs are okay. One fails to understand why a talented screenplay writer like Padmanabha Dasgupta could not make this script tighter and smaller. The first half almost puts us to sleep. The second half is more interesting mainly because of Rajatabha Dutta who injects real fun into the proceedings. Kanchan Mullick could have helped had the script been fair to him. The one star this film deserves goes to Poran Bandopadhyay and Rajatabha Dutta for their sparkling performancea. The will recorded on a DVD was a nice touch. The scene at the restaurant where Deep gives a ring to Priyanka could have evoked laughter but does not.
