The Cauvery Monitoring Committee on Wednesday directed Karnataka to release four TMC of water to Tamil Nadu over the next fortnight. The panel chaired by Water Resources Ministry Secretary Dhruv Vijai Singh and consists of Chief Secretaries of all the four basin states.
At its last meeting on October 11,the CMC had directed Karnataka to release 8.85 TMC of water from October 16 to October 31. Sources said the panel will calculate whether there was any shortfall in release of water during the last fortnight. In case there is a shortfall,Karnataka will have to make up for it during the period. The next meeting will be held in Delhi on November 15.
The CMC also asked Tamil Nadu to make a written submission before the panel by November 2 on issues it wants to be addressed.
Land grab: Vigilance files FIR against ex-UP minister,kin
The Vigilance on Wednesday lodged an FIR against former MoS for animal husbandry and dairy development Awadhpal Singh Yadav,his two brothers,including BSP MLC Chandra Pal Singh,the then sub-divisional magistrate,tehsildar,revenue inspector and clerk at Aliganj police station of Etah district. Yadav and his kin are charged with grabbing gram sabha land in two villages for the constructing a school using forged documents with the officials aid.
