Huawei announced that it has been chosen by China Unicom to upgrade its China169 backbone network.
Huaweis NE5000E cluster router system will exclusively provide the four new backbone nodes in Chengdu,Xi’an,Chongqing and Wuhan.
To accommodate rapid subscriber and traffic growth,China Unicom seeks to expand and optimize its network, particularly the China169 backbone network, which will be flattened and upgraded to enable more state-of-the-art communication services for China Unicoms customers.
This important project will commence in March 2010 and the upgraded network will be fully operational by June 2010. With this new deployment, the capacity and stability of networks in these four regions will be greatly enhanced and will ease network traffic pressure in Southwest China and Northwest China.
“With Huaweis cluster router and professional services expertise, the upgrade of this network will support China Unicoms Broadband Acceleration Strategy and provide the enhanced capacity, flexibility and scalability necessary to address the bandwidth demands of its growing consumer base,” said Zha Jun,president of Network,Huawei.
