Chargesheet against Verma on August 7

The CBI has told the court that it will file the charge-sheet against businessman Abhishek Verma and his wife on August 7. Verma and his Romanian wife,Anca Maria Neascu,were arrested on June 8 for allegedly receiving money from a Swiss arms manufacturer to stall blacklisting proceedings started against it by India.

CBI prosecutor A K Gaba informed the court of CBI Special Judge Sanjeev Jain that investigation in the case was incomplete. The court has extended the couples judicial custody till August 8. The CBI has accused Verma and his wife of taking $530,000 from Rheinmetall Air Defence AG for using his influence to stall the blacklisting proceedings initiated against it after the Ordnance Factory Board scam surfaced. Verma is also an accused in the Naval war-room leak case.
