The HRD Ministry has decided to refer to the CBI the allegations of graft and rule violations against Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor Prof P K Abdul Azis.
It has been decided that the AMU issue will be referred to the CBI for investigation, a highly placed source told The Indian Express.
AMU has has been oscillating between controversies for quite some time now. If it was violence earlier,it is allegations against the V-C that have been the cause of unrest over the last year or so.
Charges against the V-C include having made AMU pay his and the Registrars income tax, purchase of furniture worth Rs 50 lakh from Kerala which was brought to Aligarh, violation of rules and regulations regarding Executive Council meetings, poor academic record and plagiarism in his D Sc among others.
