The Central Bureau of Investigation has written to the Himachal Pradesh government seeking its nod to name some state government officials in the second FIR in the Justice (retd) Nirmal Yadav land case. The CBI wants to probe the officers role in giving permission to Yadav to buy 11.01 bighas in Solan district.
The CBI believes that serious irregularities have been committed in the purchase of land and they acted under some influence to clear Yadavs file under Section 118 of HP Tenancy and Land Reforms Act 1972. Under Section 118,non-Himachalis cannot buy land without the permission of the state government.
In 2008,the state government had given a clean chit to its officers but later a three-judge committee had rejected it,terming it as an eyewash. Sources said the CBI in its letter to Principal Secretary (Home and Vigilance) P C Dhiman has said that it plans to name the revenue officers, including a few IAS officials,in the FIR.
Unless these officers are named in the FIR,the investigations will not proceed, the CBI wrote. The home department has asked the states law department to give its opinion on the matter. Dhiman confirmed that he has received a request from CBI. We are examining the issue at the highest level and will respond to the CBI shortly, he said.
