Cardamom rises on spot demand

Cardamom prices rose by Rs 13.90 or 1.04 per cent at Rs 1,345 per kg in futures trade today on pick up in demand at spot markets.

Cardamom prices rose by Rs 13.90 or 1.04 per cent at Rs 1,345 per kg in futures trade today on pick up in demand at spot markets.

Restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the rise in prices.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange,cardamom for June-month contract rose Rs 13.90 or 1.04 per cent to Rs 1,345 per kg in a trading volume of 23 lots.

The spice of May contract also gained Rs 9.50 or 0.70 per cent to Rs 1,369 per kg in 78 lots.

Traders said,pick up in demand in the spot markets against restricted arrivals from the producing regions,mainly led to a rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
