Cardamom marginally up on spot demand

Cardamom futures prices rose 0.40 per cent at the Multi Commodity Exchange.

Cardamom futures prices on Friday rose 0.40 per cent at the Multi Commodity Exchange as traders enlarged their positions influenced by a rising demand in the spot markets for the current marriage season.

Restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the rise in prices.

Cardamom for December month contract rose 0.40 per cent to Rs 821.50 per kg in a trading volume of 12 lots.

The spice for January month contract edged up 0.38 per cent to Rs 812 per kg in a business volume of 10 lots.

Traders said a pick up in demand in the spot markets due to marriage season attributed to the rise in cardamom prices at the futures market.

They said, restricted arrivals from the southern region too supported the uptrend in prices.
