B S Yeddyurappa seems to be following in the footsteps of Narendra Modi at least when it comes to taking on his detractors within and outside the party through newspaper advertisements. Having got a breather from his party, the Karnataka Chief Minister on Friday put out a signed appeal in newspapers largely thanking the people and the BJP leadership for standing by him. Soaking in the glory of the landslide win in Bihar, the BJP leadership, however, chose to look the other way and some leaders feigned ignorance about the advertisement in which the CM openly admits the fact that he has many detractors in the party. He dishes out his achievements and argues that these successes have not been seen by the Opposition which is busy maligning his government. In the same line,he says,It is a fact there are many detractors with us. Modi,it seems, has set the trend of conveying a political signal through advertisements. The Gujarat CM had resorted to an ad blitzkrieg during the BJPs national executive meeting in Patna intending to send a message to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. An advertisement last month put out by an MLC in Karnataka had urged Modi to move to national political scene after senior leader Sushma Swaraj said the Gujarat CMs magic need not work everywhere.
