Indian cabbie racially abused as cops watch

Melbourne: An Indian cabbie has claimed that Australian police just smiled when a group of passengers racially abused him outside a police station,where he had gone for support after they refused to pay the fare. Gurpreet Singh Ashreja 29 said drove to the police station in Chelsea when his passengers refused to pay 47 in fares. Instead,he alleges he received a loud dressing down and a lecture about use of the F-word, The Age reported. I have no doubt that I was discriminated against because of my race, he said. He alleged that the passengers shouted: You8230; Indian b8230;8230;.,go back to your own country, he claimed. The policeman was watching this and I could see a smile on his face.

Nixon urged death threats to Uruguayans

Montevideo: Long-secret diplomatic cables show President Richard Nixon wanted the Uruguayan government to threaten to kill leftist prisoners in an attempt to save the life of a kidnapped US agent 40 years ago this week. Poudel wont withdraw from Nepal PM race

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress on Friday rejected the idea of withdrawing its candidate Ramchandra Poudel from the prime ministerial race to make way for alternative names,saying without reaching an understanding among parties the move will not help in resolving the current political deadlock. The NC said that it will not withdraw its candidacy for the post of Prime Minister,in line with a deal being worked out by CPN-UML to end the six-week long political deadlock.

3 US kids buy plane tickets,fly alone

Jacksonville: Three Florida children bought tickets with baby-sitting money and flew to Nashville,Tennessee,on Southwest Airlines. WJXT-TV reports that 15-year-old Bridget Brown had 700 saved and asked a 13-year-old friend where he wanted to go. The friend suggested Nashville. Together with Browns 11-year-old brother,the three took a taxicab to Jacksonville International Airport and bought three tickets at the counter. The children say no one asked them for identification.
