TORONTO: Commander of Canadian troops in Afghanistan has been sacked following allegations that he had an inappropriate relationship with a female soldier. Brigadier-General Daniel Menard was sacked as commander of Joint-Task Force Afghanistan and replaced by Col Simon Hetherington,the defence ministry said.

China: Second man executed for stabbing

BEIJING: China on Sunday executed a second man who stabbed 29 children and three teachers with a meat cleaver at a kindergarten last month in Jiangsu province. Xu Yuyuan,47,was reportedly executed by a firing squad,Xinhua reported.

Israel refuses to attend 2012 n-meet

Israel declared that it would not take part in a 2012 meet on establishing a nuclear-free West Asia an Arab initiative backed by top ally US and the 188 other signatories to the NPT.
