NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister S M Krishna congratulated Hina Rabbani Khar on her appointment as the Pakistani foreign minister. Krishna sent a letter of felicitation to Khar soon after learning of her appointment, the Ministry of External Affairs said Wednesday.

Serbia arrests last war crimes fugitive

PARIS: The last major Serbian fugitive wanted by the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague was arrested Wednesday after seven years on the run,President Boris Tadic of Serbia said in a national address. The former rebel leader,Goran Hadzic,had been indicted for his leading role during the early 1990s in ethnic cleansing that led to the killings of hundreds of Croats.

TEHRAN: A state-owned news site said Iran has shot down an unmanned US spy plane over the Fordo uranium enrichment site. The Youth Journalists Club quoted lawmaker Ali Aghazadeh Dafsari saying Irans Revolutionary Guard shot down the plane.
