KIEV: Viktor Yanukovich was sworn in as President on Thursday saying Ukraine was facing colossal debts,poverty,corruption and economic collapse. In his inauguration speech Yanukovich declared he would pursue a foreign policy involving ties with Russia,the EU and the US that would reap maximum results for the country. Yanukovichs immediate task will be to deliver on a promise to make life better for Ukrainians and for that he needs a Prime Minister with whom he can work.

100,000 beauty contest for Tigers women

New York: A beauty pageant for the women who have been linked to Tiger Woods is being organised and the winner will get 100,000. Media personality,Howard Stern,is reportedly organising the event. Several of Woods mistresses have agreed to participate in the contest,which will judge them on the basis of personality,talent and a swimsuit competition. Four women have already signed for the contest,Times of London reported.

Charges against Fonseka to be framed in civil courts

Colombo: Sri Lanka on Thursday said charges will be framed in two weeks against detained former Army Chief Sarath Fonseka in civil courts for allegedly plotting against the government. Under the Lankan Penal Code,Fonseka will be charged with fraud,condoning fraud,plotting against the government,creating unrest within the Army and keeping Army deserters under his protection, Government Spokesman G L Peiris said.

Teacher kills self seeing nude photos on Internet

London: A 24-year-old British teacher working in the Gulf killed herself after her ex-boyfriend allegedly posted naked pictures of her on Facebook. Emma Jones,who worked at an Abu Dhabi international school,drank poisonous cleaning fluid as she feared that she could be jailed in the Muslim country over the explicit images,her mother claimed. Louise Rowlands,her mother,told an inquest that Jones was distressed after former boyfriend Jamie Brayley downloaded photographs posted pictures of her on Facebook,Daily Express reported.

Lula,Fidel Castro hold emotional meeting

HAVANA: Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva had an emotional meeting on Wednesday on Lulas last official trip to the island before his term expires,the Cuban media reported. Photographs showed the two friends chatting and smiling while sitting around a table and standing in the backyard of a two-story home.
