SC asks for report on tourism in tiger habitats
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday appointed an amicus curiae to study the question of tourism in core and critical tiger habitat areas in national parks. A Bench appointed advocate Raj Panjwani to come up with suggestions after considering the tourism conditions in core zones followed by authorities for national parks across the country. The report has to be submitted by March 13,the next date of hearing.
2 Kashmiris held near Nepal border in Bihar
PATNA: The Araria police have picked four persons,including two from Jammu and Kashmir,for moving suspiciously along the India-Nepal border at Forbesganj. The police did not lodge any FIR and presented them before Araria executive magistrate,who sent the four to jail. They can be released as soon as their relatives furnish the bond as required under CrPC provisions. The two Kashmiris had come to Supaul about a fortnight ago and later moved to Nepal. The police detained them last Monday.
Youth dies during recruitment drive
AMRELI: A 25-year-old youth died during a run at a police recruitment drive here on Tuesday,the police said. The victim,Arvind Choudhary from Mansa taluka in Gandhinagar,collapsed during the 5 km run,that was being conducted on the police parade ground here,they said. The police suspect that Choudhary might have suffered a cardiac arrest. The body of the victim had been sent for post-mortem to know the exact cause of death,the police added.
Bachchans discharge delayed
MUMBAI: After undergoing an abdominal surgery on Saturday,actor Amitabh Bachchans discharge was further delayed on Tuesday. Bachchan,who was supposed to be discharged from the Seven Hills Hospital on Tuesday,complained of acute pain post his operation,and is likely to stay in the hospital for some more time. Hospital authorities denied that the delay in discharge was due to any health complications.
