The BJP will on Wednesday petition President Pranab Mukherjee against the Congresss attack on the CAG and on allegations surfacing against some Union ministers in coal block allocations.
BJP parliamentary party chairman L K Advani, leaders from both houses Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, and senior leader Murli Manohar Joshi will petition the President. The move comes in the backdrop of the partys charge against the Congress in coal block allocation issue over which it stalled the monsoon session of Parliament.
On Tuesday, the party hit out against the Congress for blaming it and the CAG for the washout of monsoon session. It sought to blame PM Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the washout, saying that the party had offered discussion subject to two preconditions, but the ruling party rejected it.
The party had offered to hold discussion if the government cancelled the coal block allotments and instituted an inquiry. However, this government wants debate but runs away from accountability, said BJP deputy leader in Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad.
