Bihar: Three Maoists, villager killed in clash

Residents of a village in Bihar’s Munger clashed with Naxals.

Residents of a village in Bihar’s Munger clashed with Naxals on Monday, resulting in the death of three rebels and a villager. Though the villagers claimed they had killed over a dozen ultras, the police recovered the bodies of only three Naxals and a villager. The residents of Hiraman Diara under Bariarpur police station had a long-standing dispute with the Naxals over share of fish caught by the villagers from the Ganga.

The incident took place on Monday when over two dozen ultras visited the village,30 km from Munger, asking for their “share of fish”. The villagers, who had been conceding a share of their crop and fish for long, decided to defy the Naxals. The police said the villagers had hired local armed musclemen to take on the Maoists.
