Bharti Walmart hosts first buyer/seller summit

Aims to promote India as a global sourcing hub within Walmart system.

Bharti Walmart,a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and Walmart organized the first international buyer-seller summit in Delhi,in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

The Buyer-Seller Summit was inaugurated by Shri Anand Sharma,Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry,Government of India. The objective of the Summit was to showcase Indian suppliers to global buyers aimed at making India a global sourcing hub.

The Summit offered a unique platform for Indian suppliers to interact with global buyers from Walmart to showcase their products with a view to export. In line with Company philosophy of saving money,to help people live better,the Summit underscores Walmart’s leadership in global sustainability,ethical sourcing and SME development,food safety standards and local employment creation.

Welcoming dignitaries and participants present on the occasion,Rajan Bharti Mittal,Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Enterprises said,“Platforms such as the Bharti Walmart Buyer Seller Summit will open global markets for Indian manufacturers and producers,in particular the SMEs that are a major growth engine of our economy and generate employment opportunities for millions. We believe this will expose them to global best practices and enhance their export competitiveness.”
