Badals richer than Patiala royals

The asset declarations in Punjab have thrown up a surprise,the ruling Badal family is richer than the Patiala Royals by at least Rs 20 crores. While Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and family is worth Rs 75 crore,his predecessor Capt Amarinder Singh’s family is worth Rs 55 crore.

While only Badal’s daughter-in-law Harsimrat Kaur,wife of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal,is contesting this time,her mother-in-law Surinder Kaur Badal had filed her papers as the covering candidate,declaring her and husband Badal’s assets in the process. Harsimrat,the SAD candidate from Bathinda,is worth around Rs 3 crore while her husband Sukhbir Singh Badal’s assets are valued at Rs 57.27 crore. The net worth of the Badal family,including Parkash Singh Badal and his wife,is Rs 75 crore. However,the family does not own any cars,just Sukhbir’s two Massey tractors worth Rs. 6.56 lakh.

On the other hand,Amarinder’s wife Preneet Kaur is contesting from Patiala while her son Raninder Singh is taking on Harsimrat in Bathinda. Raninder and his wife Rishma Kaur are jointly worth over Rs 13 crore. While Raninder has assets worth Rs 7.28 crore,Rishma is worth Rs 6.47 crore. He owns a Toyota Qualis and Land Cruiser,while his wife has a Ford Endeavour. He also has 156 bighas of agricultural land,worth Rs 3.40 crore,in Solan,Himachal Pradesh. His mother Preneet Kaur,the sitting Congress MP from Patiala,and husband Amarinder Singh have assets valued at Rs 42.3 crore,putting the net value of the Patiala royals at over Rs 55 crore.

Former cricketer and Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu has assets valued at Rs 12.41 crore. He owns four cars.

Popular Punjabi singer Hans Raj Hans,the SAD candidate from Jalandhar,is worth Rs 10.65 crore.
