Back with Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan's next film to go on floors is the official remake of the Oscar-nominated Belgian film Ledereen Beroemd, better known as Everybody’s Famous,by Dominique Deruddre.

There is no one as prolific as Amitabh Bachchan in taking up challenging roles. The actor’s next film to go on floors is the official remake of the Oscar-nominated Belgian film Ledereen Beroemd, better known as Everybody’s Famous,by Dominique Deruddre.

The film revolves around the sensitive relationship of a father with his daughter, who he hopes to make a famous singer some day.

The untitled remake is being produced by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra with debutant director Sunil Pandey, who assisted Mehra in Rang De Basanti and later Aamir Khan in Taare Zameen Par. The project will go on floors in May.

“It’s a beautiful story that Sunil came up with and we spent a few months acquiring the rights of the Belgian film to officially remake it,” says Mehra. The 17-year-old daughter’s character will be played by a newcomer, who is yet to be finalised.

However, this will be Mehra’s third production with Bachchan, who he says is his favourite star. “I first worked with Mr Bachchan on a commercial — it was his first ad shoot. We have since worked together on numerous ads and two films, and developed a relationship,” he says.
