The Mumbai Police on Tuesday filed an over-14,000 page supplementary chargesheet in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case against Sayed Zabiuddin Sayed Zakiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal,who was deported from Saudi Arabia in June. The chargesheet elaborates on his alleged role as a key conspirator in the attack,and also relies on his disclosures to show that the perpetrators of the attack received assistance from the Pakistans Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) at various stages. An ISI agent identified as Major Sameer provided the arms and ammunition for the 26/11 attack and even visited the control room of the terrorists at Karachi during the operation,the chargesheet states. Filed before the 37th Metropolitan Magistrate Court,the chargesheet names 12 new wanted accused,all Pakistanis,in the case. The Crime Branch had named 35 wanted accused in a voluminous chargesheet filed against Pakistani gunman Ajmal Kasab in February 2009. The chargesheet of 14,676 pages is divided into 57 volumes. Jundals confessional statement and the statements of 1,783 witnesses form part of the chargesheet. However,while three witnesses have positively identified Jundals voice from amongst the voice samples,forensic reports on the same are awaited. Speaking from a control room in Karachi,Jundal had allegedly instructed the gunmen holed up at Nariman House in south Mumbais Colaba area during the attack. We have adduced evidence on the role Jundal played in training the terrorists at different places in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir,and the preparations made for the 26/11 attack,in which he was partly involved and partly in the know of. The chargesheet elaborates on the significance of Jundals arrest as he has provided information on how the training camps were organised and their schedules,as well as the hierarchy and setup of the LeT in Pakistan,the specialisation and individual roles of senior LeT cadre,and its operational links in India, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshu Roy. The chargesheet also states how Jundal has clearly fixed the responsibility of the ISI in the export of terrorism to India, said a senior Crime Branch officer,who did not wish to be named. Providing details of Jundals revelations,the chargesheet states that a few days after the Aurangabad arms haul on May 9,2006,he fled from Maharashtra to Sealdah station,Kolkata. A man identified as Shaukat then helped him cross over to Bangladesh,following which he took a Pakistan International Airlines flight to Karachi. A boarding pass under the name of Syeed was issued to him,and his immigration was facilitated by the ISI,the chargesheet states. Jundals claims that LeT camps enjoy the full support of local and federal police and paramilitary organisations in Pakistan also find mention in the chargesheet. The LeT control room at Malir in Karachi operated with the knowledge of the local police,and it was set up on the premises owned by the outfits naval unit commander Yakub,Jundal has said. He has also stated that Pakistans Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) could not find any incriminating evidence during its raids after 26/11,as the FIA had itself tipped-off LeT commanders. The chargesheet also points to the ISIs role in providing Jundal a Pakistani passport under the name Riyasat Ali. The passport was handed to Jundal by LeT handler Sajid Mir. Pakistani nationals Major Sameer,Nadeem alias Shahid,Sajid Mir,Yakub,Qasim,Ehsanullah,Saad Shabbir,Hassan Hammad alias Abu Hammad,Rashi Abdullah alias Abdul Aziz,Abu Shoaib,Abu Usama and Imran alias Zeeshan are the 12 new wanted accused named.
