Amar Singh,Dimple Kapadia come together in Bombay Mittai
Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and actress Dimple Kapadia are acting in key roles in a Malayalam film. In fact they have been paired on screen as husband and wife in Bombay Mittai, directed by debutant Umar Karikkad. Produced jointly by U.Pradeep and Rajesh Malakka under the banner of IMM Films, the film also has in the lead roles Vinu Mohan and Neelambari Perumal, with Harisri Ashokan also playing a key role.
Bombay Mittai tells an interesting tale of two friends Suresh and Sulaiman (Vinu Mohan and Harisri Ashokan),who try to make fast buck through shady deals. But it all goes in vain. Luck seems to be against them. And then, one day they stumble upon a new idea. Mallika Mansoor (Amar Singh),a well-known musician,is murdered and there is a reward announced for giving information about the murder. Suresh and Sulaiman decide to avail of this opportunity and make money, cheating the cops. Then come in two characters who add to the momentum of the film. One is the police inspector investigating the case and the other is Rehna,Mansoors daughter played by Neelambari Perumal, who knows that Suresh and Sulaiman are lying. The story takes a new turn from here.
Dimple Kapadia plays Amar Singhs wife,Noora, who is a dancer. Jagadeesh plays the cop. Nissam Rawther has written the screenplay for the film, which is based on a story by director Umar Karikkad. Lal Kannan, who had earlier cranked the camera for Chithrashalabhangalude Veedu. Music is by Paris.V.Chandran.
Amar Singh was in fact brought in after a friend of producer U.Pradeep suggested his name as the makers were on the lookout for a Bollywood actor to do the role. The character of Mallika Mansoor in fact is a Malayalee who settles down in Mumbai and hence it was apt for someone like Amar Singh to do the role.
Dimple Kapadia has always been a favourite of moviegoers in Kerala, who have always been fans of her films like Bobby and Saagar. This is not her first tryst with South India cinema either. She had acted, years back,in the Kamal Haasan film Vikram,a film that had had a good run in Kerala too. Bombay Mittai is in the final stagesof production.
