An agent and depositor committed suicide in Murshidabad Thursday evening. While the agent hanged herself from a ceiling fan,the depositor was run over by a train.
Pratima Das,who used to run two chit fund companies Burdwan Sanmarg and ATM group of companies,started her business in 2006. She was reportedly unable to repay Rs 2 lakh to around 200 depositors. On Wednesday,around 100 depositors demonstrated outside her residence. Under pressure,she committed suicide.
Nabin Mahato,a resident of Barangara in Azimgunj,had invested Rs 1 lakh in Saradha group. After he knew he had lost the money,he went into depression and committed suicide. Another depositor in West Midnapore also tried to commit suicide by consuming poision. He is admitted in Tripai Grammen Hopsital and his condition is critical. ENS
